The project operates with a yearly budget of $60,000-$70,000, depending on the number of preschoolers who receive books each month. The United Way provides $13,000, but there is an obvious shortfall. No money is spent on salaries; the 120 people who work for Fun With Books all do so as volunteers because they believe in the program.

We regularly approach foundations and businesses for donations, but in these tough economic times, it will be difficult to get financing. We are hoping, therefore, that the families who receive our books will be interested in planning small fundraisers to assist us financially. One suggestion is to hold a games tournament, playing Scrabble or other board games, and charge a participation fee for those who come to play. This could be done at home with friends and relatives, or even during lunch hour in the work place. Our target dates for this campaign are the months of March, April and May. Individual donations can also be made by using the Canada Helps button on our website. Tax receipts will be issued for contributions of $20 or more. Every contribution helps to keep the program going for preschoolers in Leeds and Grenville.
